A decade of City strikers
Simple table - Cardiff City strikers or forwards and their goals per game average. Minimum 10 appearances to remove those who barely got a look in, though Tony Watt's 2 goals in 9 appearances merited inclusion. Figures for Chopra and Earnshaw are for their second spells at the club. As Chopra rejoined during the 2008/09 season, figures for Bothroyd and McCormack are from the start of that season, when they both joined, though no other forwards prior to 2010 are included. Craig Bellamy not included as he spent most of his City career out wide. Callum Paterson included after his efforts as a Premier League striker.

Thanks Eric, if I had to nominate one striker whose lack of goals at Cardiff surprised me the most, it would be Adam LeFondre - it wasn't just that he scored so few, it was that he rarely got into the positions to miss chances.

Absolutely. He had a reputation for being a fox in the box and likened himself to Solskjaer, yet was as unlike him as a player as we could have got!
Re: A decade of City strikers
We could do with a Kenny Jones for this season

Well done.
I think it would have been interesting to see added all the strikers whom you omitted and for reference all the other goal scorers as a separate list.
Re: A decade of City strikers
If Maynard hadn't had such dreadful luck with injuries, I'm sure he would have been near the top. I thought he was the right striker at the right time.
Re: A decade of City strikers
Is Paterson's based on his total games or juts the ones he played up front for us? His record would be good for just his spell up top. But his record is good anyway because he's scored goals from all over the park.

I think someone’s more bored than me :hehe::hehe:

It's his overall average.
He was our top scorer in the league when we got promoted, despite missing a few months at the start, scoring 10 in 32 league games. He did more than admirably last season when called upon. Why can't he fill the striker vacancy at Championship level? What has anyone else done to suggest they should be first choice?

I agree, thought he was a quality signing at the time and one of the most exciting in last 10 years.

I think he's a great stopgap, but would prefer a proper striker. Paterson could then chip in with goals from midfield or wherever he plays. Hopefully we'll have a couple of players with 15+ goals next season.
Re: A decade of City strikers
An Earnie in his prime would do me.
