Low taxation ?? 40% income tax, 12- 14% national insurance, then up to 20% VAT ? The f......g government already steals nearly two thirds of MY MONEY to generally waste and p.ss down the drain.
Tell you what, there's absolutely nothing stopping you sending a check to HMRC if you want to pay more tax - feel free..

Cut the loopholes, ostracise evaders and aggressive avoiders as traitors and normal people won't need to pay any more than they do already.

My mistake , it's even worse , the date for clearing the deficit is indeed 2025 , not 2022 as I initially said
That's ten fecking years later than the Tories promised in 2010 !!
What a bunch of charlatans !!
I am sensing you may not be the conservative party's greatest supporter?

Wasn't that the Labour platform and election policy , borrow more ,not balance the books ,and why we are here now ?

Mike can you move this to the political forum please.
There are some fools who still believe in politics.

We need social housing ! That means low cost housing for RENT
In 2011 the coalition government built 39000 social housing properties for rent
In 2016 ?...........5000
They are a bunch of fakes
Where as using tax payers money to pay teachers who teach socialism in the classroom and encourage children to ostracise the children of anyone who votes tory is presumably acceptable.
don't youthink any teacher who teaches politics in the classroom should be barred? Or is it OK if it's socialism they are teaching/
it's taxpayers money!!

I am a fan of Keynes , you are clearly not
You sound like a neo con to me , no wonder you have the views on taxation that you do
I would replace the current shadow chancellor but I agree with what he says and much of the country does too
My post was merely correcting your assertion that increasing taxation primes the economy. It does not. As to my voting habits I am a now a floating voter as I regard myself to be sufficiently astute to make up my own mind and not follow blindly one particular Party. Although I was a card carrying member of the Labour Party for many years I couldn't bring myself to agree with much Corbyn and Co have to offer especially as the solution is not to chuck money at any problem that might arise.

Not one single house has been built under this initiative
Expect more bullshit today
What this country needs is not more houses to buy in the private market , it needs a massive social housing building programme .......helping out local councils
But they are obsessed with getting people to own their own homes when other countries in Europe like France and Germany have far more low cost rented housing
There is nothing wrong with renting your home from the local council .....and then passing it on to the next generation .....that's what happened in post war Britain
But the push of the right to buy and Thatcher's aim to change us into a " property owning democracy " ........basically a political move to get votes and weaken the power of local councils all at once ......tied in with pushing people into buying homes they have struggled to afford .......has caused a housing crisis
And this lot won't solve it as they have proved time and time again they talk the talk but don't walk the walk
I am predominantly a labour voter but can’t say I agree with your views.
I work for a large house builder and not only would we struggle to actually build that many homes as a country (there’s physically not enough trades to do the work required) councils can be highly inefficient and would not trust to build that many houses.
Also, I don’t like the fact we have to put social houses on private developments. Undermines property ownership but that’s just my view.

You posted something similar recently. Get off PAYE, stop being a tax donkey, get into something cash in hand, declare a fraction of it = more for you and yours, less for the state (i.e. everyone else).

Re: Tory promises to build more homes
I don't believe politicians promises TBH.
I don't believe they even believe any of it either.
Recent events ought to have taught us that much.
A number of seasoned Political commentators seemed to describe today's events as 'successful' in as much as the current Gov't hoped to get through the day without too much mishap, backlash and difficulty. - What?!
Just how low has the bar dropped?! - if that is considered a valid objective.
They should be putting the Nation's interests first, not their own desperate survival.

You are missing a trick then. In my area it goes roughly like this -
- Developer makes promise to include xyz
- Developer then says "oh actually we can't" and the local authority says "oh darn, thanks for trying"

tbf to the government a day where something doesn't go massively wrong is quite rare at the moment.

Re: Tory promises to build more homes
There has been a media driven narrative for seven years that austerity was the only option. Austerity has failed. The national debt is considerably larger now than seven years ago. Osborne said the deficit would be cleared by 2015. He failed. So we continue to spend more than we bring in with tax receipts so the national debt continues to rise.
Sadly this doesn’t bring back those that have committed suicide because their welfare benefits were stopped as they were allegedly fit for work. We have a friend who is going through a tribunal shortly. Her welfare payments have been stopped. She has breast cancer and had issues with her brain making it incredibly difficult for her to walk. Despite her doctor writing a letter supporting her all the way her welfare benefit was not reinstated. It is shameful. This is the reality of Tory Britain. Targeted austerity of the weak and disabled.

Surely he would have heard most of this budget detail in real time - he seemed to be responding to points that he'd made written notes of - for some of the time. He warmed up a little after that I thought ;)
But for anyone who prefers thigh slapping, arm waving and loud, laughable bollocks, Panto season is nearly here, as is Brexit 'negotiations'.

Well for starters there was a development about 200m from my door. Agreed by local area because it was supposed to have a hotel, care home and commercial units. These vanished and they build 90 more flats.
I saw program recently about property in london, I thought it was on channel 4 with phil spencer but I can't find it. He went to a couple of developments that were agreed based on them providing x number of 'affordable' units which never materialised.
