Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
I wondered yesterday, after watching Patterson launch a huge throw to the far side of the Millwall box, if we have the world record on long throwers in the squad.
We have got Gunnar, Mozzer, Halford and now Patterson - all of them with massive throws.
I can think of a couple of other decent long throwers in the Championship (can't think of any now in the Premiership) but no club with two, let alone four.
If nothing else it will feed the myths about Warnock's playing style! :ayatollah:
Re: Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
We also had Bobby Woodruff years ago, he could really launch them too.

Andy Legg will be fuming that you missed him out.

Yeah but he wasn't a patch on our Bobby when it came to throw-ins. In fact at the time I think only Ian Hutchinson of Chelsea could throw the ball further than Bobby Woodruff.

Tony Capaldi too.

Bobby Woodruff won the (only?) Match of the Day long throw competition.
It was the highlight of my first 30 years supporting City.

Wasn't it Hutchinson that used to do a forward roll before he launched it?
Thinking about it, his arms kept spinning two or three times after he'd thrown.
Martin Chivers too.
Who remembers "Chivers with the long one" (Brian Moore)

That was Steve Watson of Newcastle I think.
Re: Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
Malcolm MacDonald had a pretty good one as well (long throw that is) :hehe:
Re: Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
Speaking of long throws, this from Bale is still the best I've ever seen. Got to be 1/3 of the pitch he clears and at the same time plays a perfect through ball assist...

Re: Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
Didn't Andy Legg once hold the world record for the longest throw?
Re: Cardiff City Heavy Artillery
According to the Guinness records. The longest throw-in (football) was 51.33 m (168 ft 4.8 in) by Thomas Gronnemark (Denmark) at the grounds of FC Horsens in Horsens, Denmark, on 18 June 2010.
