My stepfather had 4 major operations for throat cancer, will never get better, can’t eat, struggles to breath and can only walk a few steps. The cruel assessor from CAPITA was rude, aggressive and uncaring. Watching a very proud man cry was heartbreaking. She lied in her report, said he could eat and had no problems with his mobility. His benefits were stopped.
If it wasn’t for the help and support of Age Concern, he wouldn’t have appealed, he’s a very proud man, he didn’t want to bother anyone. Thankfully he won his appeal. Don’t let the Tory bastards beat you. If you have elderly parents seek help from Age Concern, they are wonderful.

Nasty Nick, if I remember correctly, once gleefully proposed doing away with periodic medical checks on paraplegic and quadriplegic disability benefit claimants by setting fire to their wheelchairs with them in situ. Those who sustained severe burns before rescuing would be deemed genuine and retain their payments but would be billed through weekly deductions for the cost of any medical care received and for a replacement wheelchair.
