Tomlin to Peterborough - loan for rest of season
Good to get him away and playing again. I wonder how much of his salary Posh are picking up?

Peterborough United fans have today (December 18) received an early Christmas present with the return of talented forward Lee Tomlin to the club.
Posh have agreed to take Tomlin on loan from Premier League club Cardiff City from January 1 until the end of the season. He trained with the first-team today and will stay with the club while he works his way towards match fitness. Tomlin has not played a single competitive game this season.
“What a Christmas present for us all,” Posh boss Steve Evans enthused. “Lee was a great player for Peterborough United and he went to play well for other clubs at Championship level.
“We have today reached an agreement with Cardiff to take him on loan until the end of the season as soon as the transfer window opens.
“We will need to work on his match fitness, but he looked in great shape physically today and some of the things he did in training suggests he will be a great signing for us.
“I cannot thank the chairman enough for making this happen. His support for me has been incredible since the day I walked in the door and this is a massive statement from him.”
Tomlin was signed by Posh from Rushden & Diamonds in August 2010 and helped the club to promotion from League One that season, scoring 11 goals.
He went on to make 156 appearances for Posh, scoring 43 goals including a hat-trick in a 7-1 Championship win over Ipswich. The 29 year-old suffered from poor discipline at Posh at times, but he was a hugely talented ball player with great vision and a terrific passing range.
Tomlin moved to Middlesbrough from Posh in 2014 and has since played for Bournemouth, Bristol City and Cardiff City moving three times for transfer fees between £2.25 million and £3.5 million.
He spent a successful period on loan at Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season, but he is not part of Cardiff’s plans for their current Premier League campaign.

"He trained with the first-team today and will stay with the club while he works his way towards match fitness."
But he's only there until the end of the season.

Maybe he’ll look back in 10 years time and think ‘What a dope I was’. Could have been an integral part of a promotion campaign resulting in a place in a Premier League club’s 25. Obviously a wealthy boy, unless he’s a ‘Chopra’ but you could never buy the memories he could have had. That’s my take on it, perhaps he couldn’t give a shite at this moment, he’ll regret it.

Has Steve Evans been to specsavers " We will need to work on his match fitness, but he looked in great shape physically today"
Tomlin represents the worse side of football ,a player who knows he can earn good coin easily , and not even apply himself too much to the effort , as he's a trick pony

I think sometimes body shape can be deceiving when it comes to looking how fit someone is. There are lots of players who don't have the athletic build as others but can cover more ground.
It does seem.to be more likely for luxury player Gazza Merson Tomlin
Re: Tomlin to Peterborough - loan for rest of season
Glad to see him go, has all the skill, but appears to have no desire, i guess he will just end up a " journeyman " who will look back and think " what could have been " of course, he might just be happy with being sold and earning good money for doing very little
I am rarely glad to see players go, last one i think was Paul Parry, who also lacked effort before he left us, I tell my daughter when she plays football ( or any other sport ) you may not be the best player in the world, but 100% effort goes along way

Unless something changes, Tomlin will be back in the summer with another year left on his contract!

He will play out of his skin at posh and con some other team out of another signing bonus and decent contract offer

Great advise ,your daughter will do well if she follows that path in life.

Bit harsh some of the comments here. No shame in not being cut out for Warnock's physical demands of pressing from the front. Earned up some valuable points last season before leaving on loan. Reading away last minute, completely changing the game at home to Norwich when coming on at HT, ran the show at home to Sheff United last summer.
Good luck to him.

There's a good Wetherspoons in Peterborough - College Arms.
He can have a pint and a burger for £7.89. Bargain.

Maybe a bit harsh on him, but he is a professional, he has form for his " play well, get contract, then relax " style
Just think what we would be saying about him if he put some effort in
