If it doesn't have to be in town the Llandaff Institute has a beautiful snooker room with 2 excellent tables.
It is so good that when it was damaged in fire the club get a grant to restore it. Membership is a lot less than paying for tables and then the tables are free

Can’t think of any decent pool tables in town, Cardiff needs a decent club.

Second this. I was a member here for a few seasons playing for the team and the tables are as good as any.
They aren't free though. There's a meter on the light so pay as you pay. Still relatively cheap.
Fairwater Cons has three good tables too but you have to become a tory to join.
Mackintosh Sports and Social club is pretty good too.
As for pool, the tables in the Queen's Vaults seem popular.

I have a confession to make. Years ago I joined the Park Con club in City Rd simply to play snooker with a pal of mine. Kept my fingers tightly crossed when I had to swear allegiance to the Tory party..
Very good tables there. Not sure what they are like now.

I didn't know about the meters. Shows how long since I played. New park libs in City Rd used to have good table but I think the club has died. Hope I'm wrong
