WWC semi final. England v USA. Match thread
The official c,mon you Lionesses, is it coming home
:ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
A couple of shocks in both team selections but still fancy the USA to nick it by a goal.
(Made it into a match thread HB - MM)

The thing I can't stand is after the game it will be Bout how they have brought the country together and done so well in reality they have won the games they are supposed to, same as the others last year.

Great ball in for the England goal. On a plate.

She sliced the finish though and was very close to missing the target. Still, she didn't. And they all count.

Was Alex Morgan drinking a cup of tea there? Cheeky.

Good goal that wouldn't look put of place in a men's game

Pity “OUR KEN” can’t head a ball like that Yank lass :hehe:

If Millie Bright could pass she would be absolutely world class.
England either have passages of play that are sublime. Like the goal. Or completely shocking. Like all the misplaced passes they constantly delivered.
Bronze is having a bit of a mare. One overlapping run excepted.
Ellen White is rather good. What a finish.

Re: WWC semi final. England v USA. Match thread
The better team won over the 90 mins but the Lionesses had the chances to take it to extra time, good game in patches, like their male counterparts at international level, the inability to keep hold of the ball in tight situations.

Not impressed with the American girls going for the corner and drawing fouls to time waste - 2nd game in a row.
Lots of teams do it but theirs is particularly cynical.
England girls did well, fair play.

I thought that as well. Sad for Steph Houghton, especially given her domestic circumstances, but I think the better side won - hope they lose in the Final though.

I'm not sure how I feel about Phil Neville and the Lioness becoming the "police of virtue" in football, and I don't like how they have achieved a team GB qualification or (historically) how Mark Sampson went from England manager to "Welshman who is England manger" following scandal. Still, with 150 minutes without conceding against this Lioness's team it gives the Welsh women's performance an extra shine, just in time for the next game at the start of September.

To be fair, wanting a clean game isn't a bad thing.
