It is incredible how influential a referee and his 2 linesmen are to a game of football.
I watched a bit of a rugby international on the weekend and everything the rugby ref did seemed to be double checked by another ref. I would not want that at all in football.
It is one of the quirks of the game; annoying as hell when he plainly got it wrong and hurts us (Mike Jones at Bristol) but great when he gets it wrong and it is in our favour.
