Just asking as I am friends with a teacher, and they have been given a bunch of new stuff to teach the youngsters.

I need to get further information, but it doesn't seem to be promoting the nuclear family as an ideal goal. Anyway, who needs a mum and dad when the state can jump in as a surrogate to fill any voids.

Care to give an example?
I do remember a time not so long ago when all societal ills were blamed on the breakup of the family. If you have an agenda, it is an easy step to find a policy that will influence the outcome.

That gave the impression to me that you think they should be promoting the nuclear family as an ideal goal to kids through education in schools. I would just rather teachers teach kids how to be smarter (i.e. better problem solvers), with life lessons left to parents.

That's where you are wrong :biggrin: They should be promoting Maths, English and Science, etc., and stop trying to brainwash the kids, but in this case they seem to be weakening the resolve of those who see merit in nuclear families.

Isn't it obvious that for decades successive governments incentivised becoming and remaining single parent families through the benefit system? The chosen 'career' path of armies of teenage girls who didn't fancy the idea of further education or the alternative, if they were lucky, of a soulless, poorly paid, dead end checkout job was to get knocked-up and continue to do so at regular intervals. Independence via free housing and an income to boot with no work requirement was and is an irresistible carrot.
