Help needed - my first match at NP

Dear all.

I am trying to find out which was the first game I attended at NP. I was taken by my then brother-in-law when I was maybe 6~9 years old. All I can remember was it was a night game, midweek I think, we left the game early and 2 late goals were scored and City won. I believe we won 4-2, but looks like not. Would have been around 1972 - 1975 or so. I have tried to search our records without success - can't find a game we won 4-2 during that period, so maybe it was another score? Anyway, all the older statistic sites don't show the goal times so can't check that way.

Cutting a rambling story short.... Anyone know of some sites which I can use to find goal times?

I can recall beating Preston 5-2 in an evening game 29/3/72

Can't see any 4-2 wins around that period.
Can you narrow it down a bit.
Do you know the name of the program seller?

Seriously, use google and search for cardiff city results and a year - you can find a whole season's results then.

Only games I can find to fit your criteria are:—-

1st December 1971, 3-2 home win against Portsmouth

29th March 1972, 5-2 win against Preston

16th October 1974, 3-2 win against York

I think they are all the night games with scores that “suit you sir” :hehe:

Can you remember what colour strip the opposition wore?

We beat Chesterfield 4-3 in Adrian Alston's first match on Halloween night 1975, it may been that one, but, from memory, City had a big lead in that game and we were hanging on at the end as Chesterfield fought back - a great first match for you though if it was that one.

We had just started our slide down the tables that year, having missed promotion by 3 points the previous season.

We were pretty bad but Scoular told the Eggo that City were going to "Attack!Attack!Attack!"

And that was the chant from the Grange end - somewhat less full than the previous year, but it seemed to work!

Did a Jimmy Tarbuck relative score for PNE. ??

Great game .

I remember my Dad taking me to what I thought was a 4-2 win at home to Oxford in the early 70’s... but I don’t recall it being a night game....

My mind could easily be playing tricks though

I can remember my first match easily beacuse it was the famous Hereford match at the end of the 1975-6 season. I remember my second match beacuse it was also against Hereford later that year over Christmas. I remember my third game beacuse it was the next home game against Fulham and I was able to easily talk my uncle into taking me because Bobby Moore was playing for them. After that, it's all a blur.
