Cannot for the life of me, see any benefit at all and this makes it worse.

As if I'm going to let a supplier put their own gadget in that reads the meter for me!

I think an in-house display of what energy is costing might persuade my wife and daughter to reduce costs (boiling a full kettle for a cuppa, wanting the heating on all effing day) , but I'm not having one until they become mandatory.

I've had several calls trying to get me to agree to having them installed.
I just ask if they're compatible when I switch suppliers.
They get very sheepish then.
