Whilst the adverts are not 'money making exercises, the knock on effect might be the difference to them staying open or not.

I like the sentiment and do try to stick to it. I tend to avoid Amazon etc unless it is impossible. I've less of an issue with high street retail but I do try to shop small where I can. Amex actually help with this a bit - the £5 off purchases at small shops starts again this weekend.
But.... it's a hardware store. Is that somewhere you are likely to do your Xmas shopping?!
