Cardiff City - Retain List

Sad but predictable that Harris has gone. Interesting to see we retain the McKay brothers in the u23 squad.
Re: Retained / released list
Interesting.
So Kadeem Harris is going (he needs football somewhere and it will help refresh the squad with a replacement) but Loic Damour (who Wales Online have been saying for months is out of contract this summer) has been given a new deal? Brian Murphy likely to stay too.
On the books but out of the picture: Omar Bogle, Matthew Connolly, Rhys Healey, Gary Madine and Lee Tomlin?
The McKay twins are still part of the u23 group.
Re: Retained / released list
William Warnock... is that Neil's son?

That’s the biggest surprise about this

Re: Retained / released list
Joe Ralls is now the longest serving player in the squad after Gunnar and Kadeem have gone.

I wonder with the Mckays lads is a bit of a wind up, to stop them getting any form of compensation if they are released early, from thier contract .
In the real world of employment you could have given them a paiting the outside or blade of grass counting job to do , whilst employed under contract.

Its stronger than it was two years ago and in case you werent paying attention, we finished second in the Championship with 91 points that time.
Re: Cardiff City - Retain List
William Warnock? Sounds familiar.
A good base of a squad, needing about 6 or 7 new players, plus the unloading of Madine, Bogle, Tomlin, Ward and Damour. I thought Damour was out of contract but they obviously made the mistake of giving him a 3 year deal. At least Harris and O'Keefe are off the payroll.

Connolly. Time to let him go.
Richards. Will he ever be fit enough to have a chance of being selected?

That's not really a guide to how things might pan out, of course.

I thought Damour had a year left.

They had 2 year contracts. I’d be surprised to see them anywhere near the club next year

I don't think so. Wales Online are probably right with this one. He was given a 2 year contract in summer 2017 and wasn't one of the clutch of players who got extensions last summer. It looks as if he has been given a new contract - which given the lack of a central midfield (Ralls and Bacuna) makes sense. He knows the club, is hard working and fits the Warnock culture, and was very effective for the first half of the 17-18 season (although I think he faded in the second half - no surprise for a newcomer to the Championship).

He’s had long enough to stake a claim. Failed to do so. Also indicated before that he want to leave. Better to sign somebody who might get picked.
Re: Retained / released list
I can't believe Kadeem Harris is 26. He hasn't played 100 league games yet but Joe Ralls, a year younger, has played 229 league games (according to wiki). Harris will probably go on to suit another Championship club but right time to part ways.

And come back to score against us. :hehe:

I suspect you are right in guessing Damour has been given one more year - although I think it will have been very recently and with no press coverage - a useful squad player for a position that is very empty at the moment now Gunnar, Arter and Camerasa have gone.

Seems to have been sorted earlier if he was saying he has 2 years left in November- and that’s his own quote not WOL’s assumptions
