Him and Javi Guerra were a bit of a mystery really.. not sure why they never seemed to be given a chance.
He was class against Wolfsburg agree Freitag17 he never had a chance or the Spanish lad ,wage off load .
I'd be happy with him in the squad now .
We seemed to attract a lot of mercenaries around that time.
I don't think they were any more or less mercenary than most other football players, we brought in some really good players around that time, but the side was a mess - I couldn't to this day begin to tell you how OGS was trying to get us to play, what style of football he wanted to implement.
He clearly has an eye for a player (of has some excellent contacts who do), but our muddled tactics dind't bring the best out of any of them.
Every player is the same though, it’s the manager who brings the squad together and gets that togetherness.
But you'd need to compare with the promotion team (winning most weeks) not the relegated team (losing most weeks).
Don't see much difference in togetherness with those squads. And obviously we'd attract players because of the PL money not the club if we go up. That's what happens.
Guerra came to us from La Liga even though we were relegated, but didn't try and get out of the contract. We rewarded him by playing him just in a league cup 1st round match against Bournemouth in front of 3000 fans. Along with a few others he didn't put in a shift, upset Scott Young, and we never played him again. We finished 2 or 3 points outside the play offs that year...
