City cancel first payment to Nantes...
...according to Sport Bible, whoever they are:
http://www.sportbible.com/football/n...t-fee-20190127
I don't feel the club is out of order in this whilst all the facts about the arrangements, insurances and Bordeaux (?) are evaluated.
Re: City cancel first payment to Nantes...
No other UK or French media outlet is reporting this.
The author is described as an avid Bristol City fan.
I have my doubts on this story.
Re: City cancel first payment to Nantes...
This is not going to end well.

Lad/Sport bible have serious form for stuff like this. It might be true but they've spread their fair share of bullshit.

I don’t know if they are actually accountable for anything they post?
No more accountable than a random poster on here anyway. Much of it is click bait and the story is then deleted pretty quickly.

They tweeted Bradley Lowery had died, when he hadn't. The story originated from them. They apologised and donated to his fund but they didn't get fined etc.

It beats me why people can’t just wait till the club release an official statement. On all matters, not just this one.

That’s not the way 1up manship on the internet works
Re: City cancel first payment to Nantes...
At this time I do not believe the story. However, I have had thoughts about there being a very messy legal wrangle coming up in the not so distant future. I hope the Nantes-City good relations continues, but I fear it will change. Once the legal boys start their quibbling it will get unsavoury.

Agree it will be messy but I don’t think it’s Cardiff Nantes that will get messy. If the transfer was completed then they surely get all their money. Can’t see why there would be any confusion to that and that’s only right and proper.
How much Cardiff then get back from insurance or negligence claims or whatever is a different matter of course and that is where I think it could get very messy.

Forgot to say payment through bank transfer went out on day of signing

I know Wales Online are about as reliable as the Lad Bible but...

Clearly there will be a big legal fall out from this situation but if there’s is any truth in the article, what reason could City have for not paying Nantes? It wasn’t their fault that the tragic event occurred, and ultimately the player had signed on the dotted line and was a City player.

Yes, there's surely no grounds on which we could withhold payment.
