We tend to like short breaks rather than 2 week jobs, this year
Paris 3 nights (to see Dan play), shithole, poor value.
Kefalonia 7 nights, stunning and would like to go back next summer.
Warsaw 3 night (to see Dan play) , very nice, very clean, good value for the dough.
Verona 4 nights, very nice but you know the reason why our break was tainted.
think we are done for this year,
Tenby will be a possibility next year, getting to the point where we dislike being on a plane for hours on end, 3.5 hours max O.K, Verona was 2 hours 15 mins
Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
I go to Long Beach Island in New Jersey.

This year's 'new' countries were Bosnia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
Last year's 'new countries' were Cuba, Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Macedonia.
Just Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine left to visit in Europe.
Off to Vietnam, Cambodia and Vietnam in January.
All cheap flights and cheap accommodation so that I can do as many trips as possible whilst also slotting in visits to countries previously visited.
If you want any pointers for Vietnam or cambodia please let me know

Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
Went to Florida a lot with parents when I was a teen. Now I'm in my twenties it's football trips to western Germany.
Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
So now sludge knows who’s going on holiday, where and for how long.
Don’t be surprised if you come home to find the wife’s underwear drawer ransacked.

Fishguard every year for us.
My wife hates flying or ships so it is this country for us.
Trouble is every time we go another pub or shop or bank has closed!!
This year both Lloyds and HSBC shut their doors.
Only Barclays and Principality left there now.

Sad but true, but then again there were a tad too many old run-down pubs there to sustain themselves.
The historic Royal Oak has has a spruce up at least , and that ' Ffwrn ' is an interesting place to eat.
Theatr Gwaun is a great Cinema, ( take a pint in with you ;) Community run, but with state of the art equipment - good fun!
30 mile round trip for us, but always enjoy the experience of seeing a film there.
Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
Muscat and Mombasa this year.
Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
Every year to Saundersfoot and Tenby (not with Sludge!) for a week - that's my proper, relaxing holiday. No flights, airports or other hassle. Then perhaps a trip to a European City - Barcelona this year. Looking for next years trip now.
Can recommend Greek Islands generally for a holiday, and most of the major European Cities are decent for a short break. Just come back from China but that's not really a holiday or a break - more an experience.

I’d quite like to check this area, I guess the sea is about the same temp as here in the uk? Really fancy driving the east coast of the states and spend some time on the beaches or North Carolina etc.....
Re: Where do you go on holiday and where ?
until very recently I used to go to Wales for my holidays and down time.

Plus I enjoy the game of "disappear for sneaky pint every couple of minutes/hours and see if the wife notices".
to be fair, i know Butlins gets a bad name, its great for the children, we used to go Feb 1/2 term and for the last weekend of the easter 2 weeks, infact my FB " on this day " tell me today 2 years ago, we flew in from Orlando and went straight to Butlins to meet friends today
Bar prices are good, the entertainment is entertaining for a while
The only thing we used to do was eat Premium dining or self catering, the " bog standard dining " with the mass's was just horrid, watching people pile a plate full of food and eat a fork full and leave it was just annoying, i was once waiting deciding what dessert to eat and some Chocolate fudge cake came out, i saw the bloke before me fill his tray with plates of it, then grab some more plates and push the cake onto the plates on his tray, he must have had 20 pieces of cake, just a low class fat slob, i made some remark to him and he looked embarrassed about it

Was it like the time you made your kid's teacher look sheepishly at the floor? :hehe:
