Agreed.
Despite his often dislikable attitude / persona he is without doubt the ultimate professional in terms of the way he has looked after himself, training diet, lifestyle etc
When he scored that overhead kick last season he was the first to acknowledge that it was about practise, practise, practise.

Just because Bale is from Cardiff, it doesn't mean I have to praise him 24/7. I don't particularly like him, though he's scored some amazing goals.
Let’s have the long list of Irish players (past and present) you think similarly of? Please don’t include any unionists from the Northern half.

Damien Duff, very over-rated.

Best player in the world? Yeah OK. :)
His form in the run-up to the CL Final was exceptional. He also stated after the final that Zidane wouldn't play him, even though he had fully recovered from an early season injury.
Next season will be interesting now that Ronaldo and Zindane have left, as they were the two people who hindered Bale the most.

I don't know why Mbappe keeps being mentioned. He has just moved to PSG for 165m.

Not many players refuse Real Madrid when they come calling, it's a path to immortality.

Agreed. Those two are the one who slipped away. At least Jonathan Woodgate is immortal.
