A49 route through Shrewsbury and Hereford I would recommend.
I came down from Birkenhead yesterday, I usually use A49 Hereford but the road works in Hereford are bad with the bypass works so I recommend follow your sat nav like I did yesterday, I know it was sunday but clear roads all the way through North Wales.Quote:

I drove to prestatyn from Caerphilly. I used the a470.

I drive the route regularly, I always go A483 - Welshpool - Newtown (New by pass cuts a good 20-30 mins off now) - Llandrindod Wells - A470.
