Being in front and behind in games - some stats
I've been looking at how long teams lead and trail in games. Some numbing stats coming up so feel free to navigate away at this point!!
I accept there might be errors in published goal times on the BBC website. Regardless of that, without including injury time, but classing a winning goal in the 90th minute as a 1 minute lead, we've been in front for 74 minutes this entire season in the league. We led for 21 minutes at Chelsea, 39 minutes in total against Fulham, a minute against Brighton and 13 minutes against Wolves. It may not come as much of a surprise to find out that all the other teams in the Premier League have held leads longer than us. Burnley come next, having been in front for 126 mins, Fulham 168, Palace 181 (tables supplied below).
It's maybe better news that 2 sides have been behind in games longer than we have. We've been behind for 562 minutes- a mere 8 hours and 8 minutes longer than we've been ahead! Fulham top the trailing tree, having spent a whopping 10 hours and 54 minutes of their 21 hours on the field.

Re: Being in front and behind in games - some stats
How about calculating the proportion of goals scores by each clun in the last 15 or 20 minutes?

Interesting stuff Eric, thanks. Another very revealing stat is that we have only been 1-0 ahead for those twenty one minutes at Chelsea all season - I can't see how we can hope to stay up unless we can rediscover the knack of scoring first in a game.

We got to stop conceding soft goals from set plays, I think we should try marking zonal as we can’t seem to cope with man marking

Changing a Marking system mid way through a season is usually a disaster isn't it?

There's a point. We haven't scored first at home this season, yet have won 3 games. I can't imagine that happening before at this stage of the season.
