Surprised at how well we played that day
Re: Never tire of this Whitt’s goal
It's astonishing we didn't get promoted.

You don't concede 6 goals in 2 playoff games and go up.

Man was a god, one of the best I've seen in a City shirt, if he had bit more pace and steel, he'd been world class, extremely talented dead ball specialist, so many great memories. We owe a debt of thanks to whoever signed him..

Could say that about every player in the world.
Re: Never tire of this Whitt’s goal
I don’t think his YouTube of goals for us will ever be beaten as a viewing.

Not seen many with the deftness of touch from a dead ball

James Ward Prowse is one.

There’s many amongst the elite who can place the ball wherever they like.

Exactly.
I liked Whitts as a player he was great for us, but the way people fawn over him is mad. He was a great Championship level player and sadly died at a young age.
Adding a bit of pace and steel does therefore makes him world class in a stupid thing to say.
Add shot stopping and distribution to Runnarrson and he's world class.
Add goal scoring and flair the LWF and he's world class.
Re: Never tire of this Whitt’s goal
To be fair, this is the first time I've ever seen someone say whitts was close to being world class. Almost every city fan has a realistic opinion of him.
There's always one...

No. You couldn't.

He was a fantastic footballer. As were Chopra and Bothroyd. Head and shoulders above most in the division during that period. They just lacked something that made them not quite PL players. I still don't know what it was.

And that has to be the point. At Championship level, Whittingham was as good at certain aspects of the game as you get. The Second Tier podcast (no fans of City) nominated him as the best Championship player of this century a few months back - what has followed since his tragic and untimely death only makes it clearer how lucky we were to be able to watch him playing for City for so long.
