Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
sky says no more business to be done at city ?
heard that before, but lack of ambition again for me... (sala situation aside)
very little time to do deals but thats the business, plenty of clubs doing deals... goal scorer was a no brainer, a must
lets hope theres a late surprise

Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
I am very surprised you have signed him. This looks more like adapting to the Championship next season because I can’t see him making a difference to your survival chances.[/QUOTE]
My thoughts exactly Pearcy. Thanks for your insight

:hehe: No one was expecting him to leave. He has been one of our better performers this season but you need better than this to stay up.

You may have a Reading season ticket and watch him play regularly... but let me ask you this...
Have you seen that video of his free kick from 2013 though?

I hope Sky are wrong and your hope is correct . If we walk away from the window with Niasse & Bacuna in place of Pilkington, Tomlin & Madine it will have been a complete failing.
And I know :frown: ... before anyone makes any cynical comments.

Nope. Not seen it. He did score a belter for us from a short corner earlier this season which may have been against the Villa. Some of the comments on Hobnob Anyone are harsh. As a a fan base we have been pissed of with 18 months of crap. So it’s not surprising most are not bothered if pretty much anyone in the squad is sold.

Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
How much do you want to bet we'll have to release him to get him off the books in 2021. 4 and a half year deal is staggering, a director of football is needed over the summer.

I cannot believe this is true. If it is then I agree it’s absolutely staggering. Can’t think of a more accurate word to describe it.

It's certainly the most surprising aspect of the transfer. Considering Bacuna's history and the fact that he'll be 28 later this year, I wonder what promoted such a lengthy deal?

There’s got to be more than this than meets the eye. 4.5 year deal for a player struggling in the championship ?!?! Sorry but it don’t add up. I’m flabbergasted.

Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
Yeah 4.5 years is madness. He is not a bad player. There is talent there but he is so erratic and inconsistent.
We have done very well though if we have got any more than a million out of this. The £3 million mentioned will doubtless only applyif he makes x number of appearances and you stay up.
Besides he scored a great goal against you in 2013.:sherlock:

A company called Unique Sports Management that also represents the likes of Harry Kane, Wilfried Zaha and David Brooks, apparently.

Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
Interesting article on his time at Villa here:
https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/spo...villa-13466920
He does sound like a Warnock type - an energetic, uncomplaining utility player according to this piece.
-
Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
Warnock will transform him.

Re: Bacuna is a Bluebird - CONFIRMED
Bacuna's disciplinary record is interesting:
2015/16 - 9 yellow cards
2016/17 - 8 yellow cards, 1 red card
2017/18 - 13 yellow cards, 1 red card
2018/19 - 4 yellow cards, 1 red card
Looks like he'll give Harry Arter a run for his money. :-)

Into what? Hopefully, a solid right-back.

Obviously the management see something in this player. Not sure what, but it would be a major surprise to me if he actually adds anything extra to the core of the squad. Certainly not instilling me with confidence that this will help us avoid relegation.
