  1. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

Possibly if you're going into industry, but if you're planning to be in academia then a PhD is beneficial.
There are some (actually many) who look down on academics without PhDs.
  2. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

I think they're running insolvent on those figures.
  3. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

It depends on what they achieve really.
If they aren't ambitious and just plod along then add about £10k to the number.
If they are ambitious and go for promotion then most professors...
  4. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

Universities are assessed via REF and TEF (whether they're fit for purpose is another argument) and these measures are linked to funding, so in reality value for money can be calculated to some...
  5. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

A typical postdoc position starts at around £30k, however most phds donít get postdoc positions and end up in research assistant roles which pay much less and can easily start in the low-mid £20s.

**** me, I wish I did earn that much.
  7. Re: Cardiff University has 250 staff Earning more than £100,000 a year.

University funding isnít all taxpayer money either.

    Joe Jacobson

I see Joe scored a hat trick against Lincoln this week. Direct free kick and 2 direct corners (although the 1st corner is a bit dubious). Good on him.

    Re: Operation Yellowhammer

    Yes it is.
To have a European Army would require all member states to agree to it, and the UK would require a referendum on it. It is a moot argument.

He didnít really try though did he?
I think there will be more incentive for change now though, if we stay the likes of Fartage will still push for Brexit and there will be a larger call for it.

    Re: Operation Yellowhammer

So, given that we have never lost national sovereignty, you still haven't given that one upside of Brexit.
I would love to hear just one tangible benefit of Brexit, it doesn't have to be no-deal...

Re: What was that nonsense with the flare about?

Given the history of Welsh fans and flares I'm surprised anyone would play it down. If something like that hits you, smoke bomb or not, you're not likely to instantly think this is harmless enough.

Re: Footage of Dean Saunders arrest

Totally agree. Just cos there are worse things going on doesnít mean he should get a free ride.
He was absolutely arseholed in that video and thankfully he didnít hurt or kill anyone.

    Re: There's Only Two Bacunas

Family tradition, every single male in the Bacuna family was born on the 7th July and they all weighed 7lb 7ozs. 7 is therefore their lucky number.
