    Re: Quick quiz question

i'm sorry I hope this doesn't cause you too much pain but we actually took the lead THREE times in that match. I've just checked with the 88/89 Rothmans book and they have us 2-1 ahead at half-time....

    Re: Quick quiz question

I'm not sure that's ever happened but happy to be proved wrong. My first thoughts were City v Stoke (4-4) in 59/60 or Rotherham v City (6-4) in 65/66 but it didn't happen in either of those games.

    Re: Quick quiz question

No - though it's actually 56 years since we did that but as this was only our third league game against them in that time then that's not unusual enough.

    Quick quiz question

What was unusual about yesterday's game that last happened in a City league game over 54 years ago ?
  14. Re: Six decades of Cardiff City v Arsenal matches.

80's- Did the coverage of these games begin with some sort of apology from Messrs Hill and Moore - perhaps for bad language ??
  15. Re: Six decades of Cardiff City v Arsenal matches.

    60's - Danny McCarthy ?
  16. Re: Six decades of Cardiff City v Norwich City matches.

The match reports at the time 'credit' that own goal to Joe Mullett as does John Crooks in his book. Despite being at that game I can't pretend to have any decisive recollection of the incident !

    Re: Players with double-barrelled surnames

In the late 1920's we had a player called Tom Potter-Smith - our first double-barrelled gentleman I reckon.
  22. Re: Sorry to hear of Brian Mertens passing.

So sorry to hear of Brian's passing. Shall miss our pre and post-match chats. RIP Brian.
  23. Re: Which Belgian player has played against the city?

Gounongbe is correct although like you Im not entirely sure of his existence.
  24. Re: Which Belgian player has played against the city?

A better question might have been: 'Which Cardiff City player was born in Belgium ?'

    Re: Gareth Williams ex City

Sad news again after Ron Healey's passing - Gareth Williams was certainly a boyhood hero of mine.

If my memory serves me right he was born in Wembley though brought up in Fleur-de-Lys near...
