For all the fans that are buried with their shirts on

My dad died about 2 months after we had changed to red.
He got buried in his coffin in his Blue FA cup shirt. A supporter of the club since a teenager in the 50s.
He died witnessing the club being rebranded on some rich man's whim.
You see Vincent Tan, when a boy chooses his football club its usually because his Dad and or elder brother dragged him down when he was a young boy on a wet cold tuesday night against Mansfield town, to go stand on terrace and be allowed to swear for the day, singing songs with all the pissed up headers. They did that before you had a chance to support a team on match of the day.
Watching us beat Manchester City in the 4th rd of the fa cup, hugging your dad sitting on the left of you and some random stranger sitting on your right.
Smashing the mighty Leeds United when they were top of the premier league and we were 2 divisions lower than them.
we've all got stories, memories that we are fond of.
That's what football is about, being a cardiff fan over the years, the football didn't matter, most of it was shit.
Today, I would have loved to have gone to the game with him, a few pints beforehand, then for him to have witnessed that atmosphere today, especially when the players run out of that tunnel in their blue shirts, well I'm welling up just thinking about it.

So this is a message for you Dad and for all the other Bluebirds that have passed on...
We miss you so much and when we have our first pint of the day today, we are gonna drink it to you. What we have achieved as fans today, we did it because you passed that passion for the club on to us.
    BLUEBIRDS FOREVER.

    We'll said!

I have been thinking about the city fans who died while we were in red the last couple of days and imagining how gutted I would have been if it had been me or a loved one.

But this does really prove, whatever mistakes were made by whoever, we were always blue really!!
