I thought it might be nice to have a thread for Linux users to share any software or tips. Anyone?

I have a bootable Linux USB3 memory stick purely for banking/financial transactions. I don't trust Windows
It's lethal
Got Ubunutu installed on mine if Windows ever screws up.
You can always go for a Linux distros that installs off a dvd and loads into memory and doesn't touch any hard disk, very useful if trying to recover lost data from a bust windows install
Linux Africa is my favourite deodrant
I ran my main home desktop PC on Debian Linux for a couple of years around 2006/7.
Admittedly that Debian rig had extra repos added and backports for full multimedia and other software.
But if it was possible to 'not miss Windows at all' - with Debian - back then, it must be entirely possible with Mint or Ubuntu by now.
The other 'flavour' I liked a lot was Arch Linux.
very different system admin approach with Arch but the system you can put together is very rewarding.
I dont run any Linux systems now. I am too reliant on proprietary software programs to make it worth while.
IMO there is simply way, way too many different Linux distributions and the tribalism and even 'rivalry' among both developers and users (devotees!) will keep Linux away from the big stage, though no doubt it will remain an alternative.
I liked that little yellow bird.
