Didn't he win manager of year whilst at Orient ? This was the criteria Tan used to select the new manager, he looked at all the winners of best manager award throughout the leagues. Of course he ignored Pulis , as he wouldn't have done as he was told

It is not a case of not handling higher level players , I'm afraid he has been told to shed the high earners regardless of their value to the team. He has been brought in to manage a lower level of player and will not get the chance to work with higher ' quality ' type players as they will all be gone by hook or by crook.

Yes he has been told to "trim " the squad and that is a task no manager would like but at the end of the day he is a poor manager.
