Help with a lateral thinking question put to me?

Using only television programmes/actors , in 4 steps can you find a link between:-

A maverick and a monkey.

I started with James Garner (maverick)
Rockford Files (starring Garner)
..........................
........................... (a monkey)

The monkey is not Clyde (Every which way but loose) or Galen (planet of the apes).

Its baffled me.
