    Borussia Dortmund

Has there ever been such a progression and regression this quickly in sports in the last 20 - 30 years since money became a key force ? Especially in football, absurd they are still bottom. Leeds maybe ?

Goes to show how competitive the German league can be, Bayern Munich aside.

Would it happen in England? Probably not, too much of a gap between the big 5 or 6 and everybody else!

    Re: Borussia Dortmund

It continues to amaze me week after week and they don't turn it around (the bookies still price them as favourites almost every week so they must be guessing that they'll turn it around at some point).

Even more amazing is that they didn't really strengthen the squad at all in January...that could end up costing Klopp his job.

I'm very glad that the game I went over for was one of only three home wins they've had this season.

They don't have the strikers to score the goals and using too many workmen in midfield. They're basically us.

Letting Lewandowski leave on a free was the dullest thing going. Principles is one thing, but you're not going to keep up with Bayern without spending. Which Dortmund don't. They're favourites this weekend against Freiburg, again, somehow.

Yet they finished top of their Champions League group and play Juve in a few days for a place in the last 8 of Europe. If you watched their latest defeat to Augsburg - who won with 10 men - after the game most of the players climed the segregation areas to speak to the fans.

I'm pleased he signed a new deal, many in that situation would have gone.

Means very little in this day and age, though. Will no doubt jump ship to Madrid for £50m in the summer. That said, he's made it clear in the past that Barcelona would be his preferred destination, so their transfer embargo may have made his mind up for him

There was a massive boost of positivity in an otherwise shitty season and this, plus his performances, have moved his side away from relegation. Not to mention they will now get a lot more money for him. It certainly doesn't mean he's going to stay beyond the summer but in other ways it means a great deal.

he had a 20m buyout clause, so it's a great deal on dortmunds side!
