Thread: Slade says play offs are unrealistic

Slade says play offs are unrealistic

    From BBC
    Cardiff manager Russell Slade:
"It was poor, it was a really poor game in that first half where the two sides cancelled each other out.

"We tried to show more intent after the break by going with two strikers up front and we had two decent chances to win the game.

"You would have to say that [top six] is now unrealistic. If you were being honest, we would have to put some run together to get us up there.

"That does not mean it is impossible, it can happen, but we do not look capable of that at the minute. We have had two draws in a row and we are not picking up wins."

The way we are playing, staying in this division looks unrealistic.

He'll have a positive spin on this nights outcome eg "a clean sheet" and the opposition haven't scored from open play in last 2 games and we created 3 decent headed chances tonight and well I can't think of anything else.

The only positive is, we cannot get any worse. Can we?

they did. Apparently we have too much quality and togetherness for that to be a concern. The fact that we are not accumulating points is apparently an irrelevance. Presumably if we do end up with fewer points than 21 other sides we will just point out how together we all were and the FA will let us stay in the Championship.
I said a couple of months ago that this has the "feel" of a relegation season to it, but at the time I believed we'd garnered enough points to have made it very unlikely - that's not the case anymore, wins for Brighton and Millwall at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds respectively on Saturday would leave us just three points off the drop zone.

Re: Slade says play offs are unrealistic

As someone on here quite rightly said , we are sleepwalking towards relegation.

Apathy reigns at this club , from a chairman who hasn't attended a match for a year , to the players who can't be arsed playing for a clown of a manager , to the fans who have
Given up watching the turgid style of footbal on offer.

Re: Slade says play offs are unrealistic

So the playoffs are unrealistic Russell...........do you really think so?

Just to clarify Mr.Slade, the higher the number you have as your position in the table, and the closer it is to 22, 23 or 24 - well that means you are much less likely to achieve play offs or promotion. Our position number sequence over the last 3 fixtures reads 13, 15, 16.

Hope this helps - if not I'll send you a championship table with an up arrow and a down arrow on it.

The chairman (Mehmet Dalman) attends a lot of matches , home and away including last night`s game.
