    Declan John

Joined Barnsley on loan for the rest of the season.

    Re: Declan John

Good move for him but poor management by the club IMHO. He should have been given a stab at the wide midfield berth as he has fantastic pace.

Agree , but this seems in line with club policy - anyone with an ounce of flair, ship them out.

In fairness both new wingers look better than John and have already made an impact, without the need to let him adjust to a new position. Better to tell Barnsley that he's a winger and let him practice there

He's not really a defender is he?

Craig Noone gave him a lift to Barnsley

    It's only a loan.

I agree he is not a full back imo. lets hope he comes back a better player.

He's got good skills and delivers a decent ball, but I don't think that his pace is that great at all.

    Re: Declan John

Maybe Slade thinks he'd develop better if he were playing regularly.

    Re: Declan John

John needs to play to develop.

Every winger/full back we have is ahead of him at the moment.

    (Maybe not Noone)

We complain about the lack of identity then complain when a local player is given a chance because he isn't ashley Cole

This. He was thrown in the deep end in the Premier League in his first professional season and our supporters expect him to be world class. Give the boy a chance.

    Re: Declan John

I wondered what was going on, he wasn't in the U21 team the other night. He seems to have gone backwards and only ever played in a struggling side. Decent coaching is the answer as he obviously has talent.

    Re: Declan John

Perhaps Barnsley can tell us once and for all whether he's a full-back or winger.
