MSM have given about five separate accounts of why this Sunday's Top Gear programme has been cancelled.
BBC..."fracas"
Sky News..."incident"
Newspapers...."disagreement"...."row"
Finally today we get...."punch".
If the msm cannot be relied on to report a simple thing like this properly, then how can we rely upon them to communicate far more serious issues to the public?

Big difference from "disagreement" wouldn't you say?Originally Posted by Barry Dragon wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 10:39
If it was truly and assault why did it take the producer 5 days to complain about it? Sounds more like hand bags to me, rather than an assault.Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 10:45
The post made the point that msm could not agree themselves on what it was that was "Breaking News".Originally Posted by Barry Dragon wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 10:50
How much consistency do you usually find in the 'alternative' media?Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 10:56
It is a story with limited knowledge of what happened, how are they supposed to report it? More and more info is coming out and I am sure each report will use a new more accurate description of what happened, but until then what is wrong with any of the words used?Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 10:56
The alternative media tend not to rely on press releases and press handouts. Which, unfortunately because of time constraints, budget and resources cut backs msm increasingly rely on.Originally Posted by calonlan wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:01
I was asking about consitency not whether they sometimes get things right.Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:10
Has Clarkson been critical of Israel and supportive of Russia recently? A lot of the loons appear to be coming out in some weird defence of him.
Pepe Escobar, Paul Craig Roberts, John Pilger, Alan Hart, and the late Anthony Lawson to the best of my knowledge, have never been criticised over issues relating to consistency.Originally Posted by calonlan wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:31
I was referring to your initial post that the mainstream news agencies are not consistent in their reports of the Clarkson 'incident'. In a similar vein, the alternative media's interpretations of, say, 9/11 have been wildly inconsistent.Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:45
The example I used was Clarkson. It was used by way of illustration to show what effect msms's shortcomings are, with even a simple story as this one was.Originally Posted by calonlan wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:53
Is there a link to an alternative media site that mentioned a punch before the mainstream?
Next time you approach the keyboard, lets see if you can be a trifle more productive. How about it?Originally Posted by TruBlue wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 11:36
Have you looked for one?Originally Posted by lardy wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 12:22
This is all blown out of proportion.
There was a buffet, and there was a discussion over whether the drink on offer was a fruit punch or rum punch.
Jeremy had a sip, and confirmed it was non-alcoholic, and gave while passing some to his mate in the production team, he was bumped, and the punch spilt over the guy.
It got reported as "Jeremy throws punch at production team member" because what really happened doesn't sell papers.
No. If you're using this an example of the alternative media's shortcomings I thought you might have one. Otherwise it's not really an example.Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 12:24
Actually it was as an example of msm's shortcomings, as the initial post made clear.Originally Posted by lardy wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 12:25
This manufactured 'news' about the staunch Conservative supporter Jeremy Clarkson has certainly displaced the Thatcher was a pedophile sympathiser story, and prevented it from becoming a main talking point.
It's just so easy when you are involved though.Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 12:23
What are we comparing it to?Originally Posted by The sheep report wrote on Wed, 11 March 2015 12:31
What other news are the media trying to hide the amount of coverage this has got is ridiculous.
