    Fair Play for Palestine

If you'd like to hear the case for suspending Israel from FIFA and how that could help bring peace and justice to Israel-Palestine, you are welcome to attend: http://tinyurl.com/oybsmt3.

And if you're going over there to see the game, please be aware that Jerusalem is not part of Israel. Israel claims it as such but nobody recognises their claim, not even the USA. The United Nations refers to West Jerusalem and occupied East Jerusalem. The city's exact status is disputed but in law it is not part of Israel. Here in the UK the Advertising Standards Authority has just banned an Israeli Tourist ad which promotes Jerusalem as part of Israel.

The biggest obstacle to peace is Israel's illegal occupation and especially its illegal colonies in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. If you are near Bethlehem you may see some of them. Please remember that they have no right to be there.

Israel should have the same treatment as the Apartheid regime of S. Africa. Won't happen though.

This is the Gaza Parkour Team (in response to a Banksy thing about travelling to new destinations). Worth a watch.

I have friends in Israel (Tel Aviv) that I met abroad...some of the nicest people I've ever met.

Worth considering that whatever you think of their politics/goverment, there are decent people everywhere.

Israel/Palestine debate is too complex for anyone to just solve. There is no simple solution and no good side v bad side.

Mocking people and using bad language is so out of order.

Although Hamas is often said to want to eradicate Israel Israel always seems to be doing a much better job of it targeting Palestine.

I would agree that it is a problem with the governments/politics of both rather than the people living within. Hopefully the trip out there is safe and, apart from the football, very dull.

The Jewish people have been treated appallingly throughout history but rampant bullying Zionism isn't the answer. You can't build lasting happiness on other people unhappiness.

I think you will find that Israel became a state in 1948. Prior to that there was no state of Israel.

It's a little more complicated than that as the Israelites were in the region for thousands of years. How long has the state of Palestine been in existence? It's a bit difficult to fix states on Nomadic desert tribes. What date would you like to be the definitive allocation of Palestine, Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Iran, (and, while you're at it, England, Prussia, Russia, etc?) Can you sort it out for everyone please?

Your grasp on both reality and history is non-existent. Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for 3,000 years (1,700 yrs BEFORE ISLAM CAME INTO BEING). Not surprisingly, Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran.

I agree with that. Cardiff wasn't the capital of Wales until 1955. There were no countries in the world for billions of years until people started declaring them. They're forever changing. What point are you making? Are you from Thrace by any chance?

You mentioned Israelites. Desert wandering nomadic tribes intermingling for hundreds of years with no means of birth control and lots of lusty randy young Roman Centurions?
