    CCMB unrealistic about realistic signings

    Bois bach!

Mikel Arteta has been mentioned and no doubt more names will be conjured up in the next couple of months.

We need to seriously wake up and smell the roses.

Why do players sign for anybody?

    1. Ambition
    2. Money
    3. Impressed by the set up (existing team, manager etc)

Really there are no other reasons when you analyse it. We already know that we will not be paying top wages anymore, so the only players who would sign for the money would be those on less - division 1 or lower.

Ambition? The only players who could see coming here as fulfilling the next step in their careers are again, division 1 or lower. Young starlets are hardly going to be queuing up around the block.

Impressed by the set-up/team/manager? Lets be honest, the club is a joke and the team is poor - mid-table mediocrity with a few very good players who probably wont be here next season.

As for the manager? Who other than lower league players could possibly be impressed by Russell Slade? Any decent players could spend a half hour listening to him and probably find it hard not to laugh.

This club is doomed if we keep Russell Slade because it links back to the points above. If we keep him we clearly have no money, no ambition and no ability to impress anybody.

It is vital for the future of this club that the board get rid of Russell Slade and invest in a new manager, change the strategy and look to attract players. If we don't have the money then we need a manager who can attract players for less by selling a vision.

Please stop this 'realistic signings' nonsense - unless it begins and ends in the lower leagues.

They aren't the only ones with unrealistic expectations/ambitions.

    We are fodder.

Football is based on unrealistic ambitions.
The beauty is we live in that dream like state where once in a lifetime, or longer, it becomes a reality.
Obviously, it gets taken away pronto but for a short period of time that belief system is recharged to totally outrageous levels that keep many going for decades longer.
We can put forward wish lists probably knowing that hell will get a bit chilly before they come true but that is what keeps us coming back for more.
    Long may it continue.

Joe Ledley anyone? Likely to become a squad player at Palace.
