Another one of those lists - no-one is ever going to agree - my own list changes depending on my mood - but A Day in the Life is almost always number one so I think they got that one right.

A Day in the Life for me. I don't know if I'd say it is 'numero uno' - it is another quite impossible list.
But whenever it turns up, I never skip it, and invariably I 'stop' to listen to it. Still. And I dread to think how many years ago I first heard it.
    Great song/tune/piece . Ground-breaking.

I quite like the version that appears on the Anthology album too - Lennon's vocals on that version are amazing.

Anyway, speaking of things Beatles-related, it amazes me that a band who could turn out songs of this quality went almost completely under the radar.

Wrong time, wrong place for Jellyfish. This album is incredible, a cross between The Beatles, The Beach Boys, E.L.O. and Squeeze https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHvgQDRpA-s

I don't think I will ever have a single favourite Beatles' song - but at the moment it is Lennon's 'In my life'.

There was something magical about the Beatles' early stuff and something differently magical about their middle and late stuff.

But it may have more to do with me growing up than them.

I just listened to a couple more tracks on YT - definitely had a poppy Difford & Tilbrook vibe going on. And that's always a good thing in my book.

Only made 2 albums. The debut is a straightforward 'power pop' album. I always think power pop is just a euphemism for great songwriting. And a second, more ambitious album which is a complete classic.

Unfortunately ends on Sunday, but this was the second run. I'm sure there'll be a third.
