Good shout...they were Germany by then...unbeaten in 18 games and undoubtedly no.1 in the world.
The rankings started at the end of 92 but I think they would have been considered around the best at that time. Italy were around 6th when we beat them. When we beat Germany 1-0 in 2002, they were 4th.
