Cardiff based former bass player with The Damned lost his long battle today and went off to the great gig in the sky this morning.

Bryn was a fellow Barry boy and a friend. We spent many a Sunday on the piss around Canton when we were both living in Cardiff. My ex-Mrs used to dread him knocking on the door. He was an amazing bassist. He was able to get my band a support gig with the Damned many years ago. I remember seeing him warm up backstage once and just being blown away.

That's sad news, I had the pleasure of seeing Bryn play live in 3 bands over the years. The Damned, Victims[ Victimize] and the Shamones. R.I.P. Bryn.

Bryan Merrick used to occasionally turn up at the Barry pop quiz upstairs in the Park Hotel and he bought my battered old Volvo off me back in the late 1990's!
