We're making hard work of this good wicket, even Root seems to be struggling.
I'd like to see Bairstow bat at 6 and Stokes at 7. I just feel Bairstow is the better batsman.

Bloody love this from Stokes, when he's in the zone he's so much fun to watch
Hope everyone's woken up and not missed this madness, Stokes is absolutely murdering them!

BENJI
Has there been a better double ton than that by an England player?
Unbelievable stuff.
This is simply unbelievable batting by these two.
The run rate alone would rank highly in a T20 slog.
Boycott must be having nightmares about this type of batting.
Next question is where to decide that enough is on the board and declare. On the basis this is a great batting track enough time is needed to force the result
The closest in my time was probably Nasser's 200 odd against the Aussies at the Oval? back in the 90's.Originally Posted by Hilts wrote on Sun, 03 January 2016 10:19

Sensational
A tricky one but a nice problem to have.Originally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Sun, 03 January 2016 10:29
Good planning from England to start the world T20 preparations this early.
SA might be struggling for runs, but guys like Elgar, Amla and of course De Villiars are still dangerous and if they can get their eye in could score big.Originally Posted by Majorblue wrote on Sun, 03 January 2016 10:45
I've seen an awful lot of cricket down the years, but I've never ever seen such a sustained example of brutal hitting in a test match by an English batsman before.
When Stokes got a big hundred in next to no time in one of the warm up matches. I wondered whether we may see something spectacular from him in the test series, but I was thinking more in terms of a quick sixty or seventy - he's moved on to a whole different level today.
Hope Bairstow gets a deserved hundred as well.
Cook won't declare. It's Alastair Cook we're on about here. Don't blame him either.
300 run partnership, Jesus
Yessssss Jonny, well earned.
I don't think I've ever seen a batsman as emotional as Birstow when getting a maiden test ton. Well done Jonny.
It's bonkers to think that Bairstow got 150 not out and he hasen't even got a sniff at the man of the match award
Now come on Jimmy and get that new cherry swinging and we can have them 3 down by tea
