Bought one yesterday from Asda a Polaroid 50 inch screen full spec 1080 etc. But took it back this morning as it was awful.
We paid about £275 for it in the sale but to adjust the picture settings like colour and brightness you couldn't adjust it while watching through the sky box. You had to try and adjust it blindly on a blank screen on anything that didn't have a picture showing of anything.
And the sound was crap.
Looking at no more than about £350

Curry's also have a sale, but if you're paying £350 for a 50" TV, don't expect too much.Originally Posted by uncle bob wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 11:21
Tesco have a 49" for £199.00. I don't know how good it is for that money, but got to be worth a try. One thing to consider that a lot of programs and all movies are shot in 21:9, and 5K 21:9 TV's are the next big thing, so spend as little as you can at the moment.
You only get what you pay for, unfortunately for a tidy large tv you must pay at least £450.
I thought the op was a joke about Polaroids...
That 49" one looks pretty good if you are not planning on it lasting forever, quite tempted to get one for the bedroom.Originally Posted by ZZ Jack wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 21:25
Why would you want a 50's TV? It might not even work. Almost certainly won't get BBC2 You should get a new one.
Is that because the 50's ones are 425 lines and newer ones are 625
Did the proper thing and bought an LG insteadOriginally Posted by Mrs Steve R wrote on Tue, 29 December 2015 12:31
If it lasts 6 months it will have been worth it just so he can play with his xmas present and not argue with my daughter over using her tv, that alone was worth £99Originally Posted by The Bloop wrote on Tue, 29 December 2015 13:15

Go smaller in size and better quality / brand? Why 50" ?
Just remember, you don't want to pay the extra for a 16:9 TV, which will last five years when 21:9 is on its way. That's all.
