Cardiff City duo Peter Whittingham and Kagisho Dikgacoi look set for recalls for Sunday evening's FA Cup third-round tie at home to Shrewsbury Town.
Both central midfielders have been out of favour in recent weeks, but boss Russell Slade may make changes against the League One strugglers.
Shrewsbury have made four new signings since the 7-2 defeat at Chesterfield - the club's worst loss since 1964.
But only two, striker Andy Mangan and loan defender Jack Grimmer, can play.
Midfielder Richie Wellens and striker Kyle Vassell are both cup-tied, but Mangan can play, having only been an unused substitute in Tranmere's fourth qualifying round exit at Lincoln,
Anthony Gerrard, who played at Wembley for Cardiff in their League Cup final defeat by Liverpool in 2012, missing a penalty in the shootout, may feature against his former club after a hamstring injury.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
This is the first FA Cup meeting between Cardiff City (winners in 1927 and beaten finalists in 2008) and Shrewsbury Town, who have twice been quarter-finalists (1979 and 1982).
The two clubs have not met since April 2001, when the Bluebirds won 3-0, the most recent of four straight wins, all of them in which the Welsh side scored at least three goals.
Cardiff City
Cardiff will be playing in their fourth successive home FA Cup tie, of which they have won just one.
Since reaching the final in 2008, when they lost to Portsmouth, Cardiff have made it though to the fourth round four times, progressing last season at the expense of third-tier side Colchester United. But they were upset by non-league Macclesfield in 2013.
Shrewsbury Town
Shrewsbury have progressed from just one of eight FA Cup ties against sides from a higher division since Kevin Ratcliffe's side beat Everton (and a young Wayne Rooney) in the third round in 2003.
The Town last made it to the third round four seasons ago when Graham Turner's side lost 1-0 at Championship side Middlesbrough.
They have been drawn away from home in all three rounds this season, but are yet to concede a goal. They won 1-0 at Gainsborough Trinity in round one before beating another non-league team, Grimsby Town, by the same scoreline at the Meadow after a 0-0 draw in the first game at Blundell Park.

Tamas starts, so does Moore in goal, Revell and Macheda up front. Whittingham starts as well.
Cardiff City: Moore; Fabio Manga Tamas Malone; Ameobi O'Keefe Dikagcoi Whittingham; Revell, Macheda
Subs: Marshall, Oshilaja, John, Gunnarsson, Noone, Kennedy, Mason
Shrewsbury: Halstead; Sadler, Gerrard, Whitbread, Grimmer, Knight-Percival; Cole, Clark, Black; Mangan, Vernon
Subs: Leutwiler, Grandison, Whalley, Akpa Akpro, Caton, Patterson, Smith
So 3 players start (Tamas, Revell and Macheda) who, according to the media, we're on the verge of shipping out.
So either the Echo is chatting shit or Slade is giving match time to players who don't need it.
Just bound to be Slade in the wrong whateverOriginally Posted by celticknight wrote on Sun, 10 January 2016 17:19
The mouthy Scouser starts for Shrewsbury. Apparently he plays for nothing in a bid to improve his reputation
But the other ex City player who could have faced us, Liam Lawrence, was transferred to Bristol Rovers in the week.

Remember that time Slade gave the kids a chance in the cup? Out of that starting 11 there are overpaid players, players who should never have been signed, players reportedly signed to make the dressing room happy, a City legend and potentially our goalie for the next 10 years.
Tamas looks absolutely awful
What is the point in this starting line up we already know most of them are shit and send ameobi bloody back he's a cock flavoured lolly pop
Just put TV on. The attendance is embarrassing!
Ameobi consistently runs into a player after a stepover, maybe try going to the side instead of running straight perhaps?
OK, but aside, from that, you are getting behind your team?Originally Posted by jamieccfc wrote on Sun, 10 January 2016 18:18

Separated at birth
Sammy Ameobi - Jeffrey Daniel (Shalamar)
and Daniel is probably a better player as well !!!

BBC Radio Wales' commentators slagging of Ameobi's fitness, even insinuating that's he's lazy.
...completely forgetting the fact that he's got asthma.
Malone getting forward very well
As usual knocking it about well and some lovely passing but not enough quality in the final 3rd and getting the ball into the box.
Again for people calling this team a long ball team where were they other than the odd clearance from the keeper?
