Things I have learnt since earlier seeing a BBC page on Geraint's win:

i) there is no relaxing final day in this race and Geraint (with good support from at least one team member who deserves to be mentioned but I can't remember his name) had to fight to keep 1st place rather than take photos with champagne
ii) Geraint beat Contador and Richie Porte
iii) Geraint becomes just the third Brit to win this race
iv) An Irishman has won this event most in history with 7 victories.

Great win after a great day's racing. Sergio Henao was the rider who dragged Geraint back into the race when it looked like Contador and Porte had broken him. Sean Kelly was the rider who won it seven years in a row, he was commentating on this year's race for Eurosport. Geraint seems like a top bloke, I'd recommend his book to anyone who has an interest in cycling.

Brilliant achievement by G should be in with a chance to lead the Sky team at Tour de France.

Doesn't have the burst of speed that any of the major climbers do, which may be his downfall. I'd love a welshman to win the tdf mind
