Thread: Stan Bowles.

    Stan Bowles.

Quite a sad listen for those who remember Stan Bowles, a football character and legend from my youth, who regularly got good stick off City and football fans and for those who know people affected by this illness. Stan and his family talking about him dealing with Alzeimhers.

To be serious, it's a terrible condition. All the very best to the guy, legend.

I remember that classic moment as England took a corner in front of the real Grangend, Stanley heard the chant and responded by a shrug of the shoulders. Classic moment. Be strong Stan great talent.

    Re: Stan Bowles.

When with QPR he was sharing a flat with Don Givens, apparently they were quite Jack the lads. One Saturday as always they'd had a fair old punt on the horses and one of their nags was going in the 3.15 (or sometime during the game) and they were playing at Loftus Rd. The story goes that they had a mate with a radio in the crowd near the corner flag, they engineered a corner to coincide with the finish of the race and both got together within listening range and did that thing where two players prior to a corner sort of discuss which training ground routine they're going to attempt. I'd love this story to be true as it emphasises the sort of characters we had in the game when we were growing up.

It's a real shame. At least he got to to live his dream for a while though.
