He claimed 8,000 pound expenses on the flat. Bought it for about 65000 in 1997 and sold it for 240,000 10 years later.
Not exceptional by the rise in London values over the period.

only 24% voted for them. turnout was 66%. for all you know, the other 34% that didnt vote is also conservative. I wouldn't say britain is conservative though. England certainly is.
