Foods that you stopped eating later in life

A follow on from a recent and interesting thread.

Mine would have to be a good curry. In my 20s I'd love a phal after a few beers, almost to the point where nothing was ever too hot. Now, my tolerance for hot spicy stuff has seriously diminished, mainly due to Mrs C not enjoying anything with even a hint of heat. Now a vindaloo is usually too much for me, while I've stopped enjoying a madras. On the rare occasion I enjoy a curry it's usually a milder affair.

Are you enjoying not eating meat or is it a battle ? Surely all the best meals involve meat somewhere or other

Are you talking to me or Vimana? Still haven't worked out how you can tell.

I'd say it was more of a battle when the rest of the house still eat meat, I would make more of an effort to make new things if it wasn't just for me, I don't miss it though.

Absolutely no reason why you can't eat delicious meals that don't involve eating animal corpses,

Quorn can be good for some things, I use the mince mainly, I have tried many different things that wont make the shopping list again, Linda Mccartney sausage rolls tasted more sausage like than the last real sausage roll I had, kinda messed with my mind a bit.

Not a great lover of quorn, some stuff tastes too much like meat, a taste that I genuinely detest. having said that, throw a bit into a curry and there is no real meat taste, just bulks it up and is good protein.
Can manage quite well with loads of veggies, and as chips count as veggies too many of them!

You can get some nice flavours to put on wedges, they are not classed as chips are they?

I still have a vinda for lunch at least twice a month. (not as hot over here mind) And now the weather is better I'm cooking meat on the grill 2 or 3 times a week. I probably eat too much meat for a 50 year old, but what are you going to do? Give up?

If I gave up meat, in a few days I'd have to bite somebody.
