I want to see that Louis thing! Is it out yet? Is this going to cinemas or TV?
About time someone exposed that Mafiosa Ponzi sceme that is Scientology.
On that point add "The Master" to this list. It will bore some people but I thought it was amazing.
Just looked it up. It's a Cannes now which means distributors will be buying the rights this week. Could be a while before it comes out if they want to go for the Oscar...
Trumbo is pretty good and worth a watch. Bryan Cranston is brilliant as usual.
Yeah it fantastic, fascinating and terrifying.
Louis Theroux has a long delayed doc on Scientology coming out next month. Should be good.

Think the Colonel posted a trailer for that somewhere in this thread. Looks ****ing great. The whole subject is fascinating. It's like all these folks get caught in this militaristic ponzi scheme where you have to live by a schizophrenic code. Great that it's in the autumn slot which means the distributors think it's Oscar worthy. Louis deserves the recognition.
The interesting thing I got from the Going Clear doc is that Scientology is really on a massive decline, but it's just become a money laundering front to hide it's money on real estate around the world. It only has 50k members but the company value is in the billions. If the US taxman gets back on their asses the whole scam would disappear.
Cheers Richy. Never heard of "Going Clear". Looks brilliant.
Haven't seen Trumbo but have seen many of the films Dalton Trumbo wrote under aliases. Crazy how many films he actually had on his CV. His is the most telling story of how right wingers in the US killed off socialism for good via the McArthy witch list.
No prob. Going Clear is very good. They talk to some high profile ex-members so it is very enlightening. Enjoyed The Master too.
Re: Trumbo. I didn't know a lot about the McCarthy blacklist before watching so it was a bit of an education for me. It was interesting to see the roles big Hollywood heavyweights like John Wayne and Edward G. Robinson had in the whole sorry affair.
Miss Bala on Netflix starring the gorgeous Stephanie Sigman. I'm disappointed the colonel hasn't posted some artistic photos of Ms Sigman. It's about a beauty pageant girl getting embroiled with Mexican drug barons. After an unconvincing start it's alright if only for the sight of Sigman.
Here's a handy website for people looking for a film to watch: http://www.cluemeamovie.com/
Went to watch green room at the cinema last night. Pretty good - worth a watch.
Watched Platoon recently, brilliant film and deserves its Oscar
It does a great job showing the immense physical and psychological trauma those men went through, as well as the divisions within the American army at the time and, unlike many American war films, paints America in quite a bad light and poses the question of what's right and what's wrong
Watched Captain America Civil War, thought it was really good.
Watched the perfect host last night, a very good black comedy/thriller. Stand-out performance by David Hyde Pierce.
Here's the trailer, but I recommend going into it blind.
The full film is available on youtube too!
Race. Jesse Owens life story.
I watched it last night and I thought it was an excellent film.
Need to see Race. It looks a bit too cheesy but it's a great story.
You should check out my absolute favourite documentary if you like that story. "The Unforgivable Blackness". It's about one of the greatest heavyweight champs Jack Johnson. An incredible story and an incredible film. I had to import a DVD from the US. Not sure if you can get it online anywhere. But appropriate viewing on the day of the death of another colossus of the sport.
Saw mustang the other day Turkish film - thought it was worth a mention on here!
Not a film as such but watched 'Reg' last night on bbc1.
Drama by Jimmy McGovern based on the true story of Reg Keys, who took on the British prime minister over Britain's participation in the Iraq War.
Starring Tim Roth but great performances all round. Available on I Player for 29 days.

Missed that but heard good things about it, will give it a spin.
Completely different, but watched Speed with my 11yo, first time he had seen it.
He was perched on the edge of his seat the whole way through. It really stands up well, not seen it myself for many years and was surprised how much i was invested in it.
Seen The Nice Guys last night after seeing good reviews online and it didn't disappoint.
Entertaining from start 'til end.
