Can you imagine the Big 'O' walking onto the X Factor. First he'd be ridiculed because unattractive people cant sing. Then they would all look shocked as he belted out a tune he had written. Cowell would get him to ditch the guitar and instead sing Everly Brothers covers for the next 2 years.

I love watching Orbison sing. He barely seems to break a sweat or strain as he hits the high notes. What a tragic life he had too.

Alan Mayes who played trumpet with Roy Orbison lives at the head of the dale in Cowshill, he is often in our local, The Bluebell in St John's Chapel, and will occasionally reminisce about touring with him.
