Well said Paul. I was just 15 when he arrived and 17 when he left, and I never missed a game in those couple of seasons. One thing I remember was that he was a goalscoring midfielder in the first season he was with us, but the second season had to play on a Ninian Park pitch that mainly sand, with a bit of grass in the corners!

Sad to see that in the reunion photo showed by some yesterday that now he has gone along with Brian Clark and Ronnie Bird. We did have a cracking team between 1968 and 1971.

Thanks for mentioning Ronnie Bird - shame on me for forgetting a really decent bloke and an "interesting" footballer!

Good write up from Paul as usual. R.I.P Ian Gibson. I was fortunate to have seen him play for the city in my first game against Fulham in 1972. Nearly all older fans name him in their all time City 11.
