In 100 years time, the issues will be around the lack of resources available to the world's population. Some places on the planet will be inhospitable, and there will be wars over things such as water and fertile land.
I think that there will be settlements on Mars - although mainly scientists and their families. There could be some forms of mining on Mars too - but it would be infeasible to ship the mined ores back to earth. I also think that there will be manned spacecraft visiting planets further afield, and possibly plans in place to send a manned mission beyond the solar system.
But, mainly, people will be on an overpopulated planet, with fewer resources, less tolerance and more things to fight over. There will be more blocs and alliances, but earth will not be a one-government world because there will be even more things to separate people.
