Leaving Bristol at approx 17.00 on a weekday, bridge queuing time ?

I'm guessing some on here work in Brizzle,
I have a course next week in Bristol and will finish 17.00, the location is reasonably close to the M5, but a 30 min walk from Patchway (my other option, train) approx. how long approx. will the queue be at the Bridge ?

It's not just the bridge, it's the tunnels too. I don't think it's too bad most days, I used to work in Avonmouth and it used to take me about 35-40 mins to get back to Cardiff. You could easily add an hour onto that on a Friday mind at this time of year.

Get yourself a Severn Tag and you're through without barely stopping. Turn left at the Magor junction and follow it around the back of Llanwern and that'll save you more time and grief

i came upto Cardiff from bath ( so the junc before the M32 ) yesterday to join in the " party " at CCS, i left at 3.15

took me over 1 hour to get to the M4 from home ( took 20 mins on the way home )

then i hit the M4 and it was down to about 10 MPH all the way top the bright, 15 mins wait at the bridge toll, then a very short space where i hit 70 mph then back down to 10 mph till the tunnel, then it was free and open and back upto 70 mph

a trip that takes me 1 1/2 hours took me 3 hours

I know its a little earlier than you are travelling home, but it would have only got worse with the people finishing work

We arrived as the MSP were walking across the pitch

    Step aside fellas.
I've used the bridge every day for yonks.
I've worked in Brizzle loads a times.
I have a trip tag cos I was sick of queuing.
The worst day (mon - fri) is Friday.
If you've got no tag use the old Bridge on Friday.
Otherwise,( and until you get a severn tag you won't realise how many people facking do this ) go in the tag Lane if it's busy and play silly bollox. You have to wait for a teller to walk across and take your money tho, but better than queuing on a friday

Forgot to mention, I always arranged in Bristol to start at 6am and finish at 3pm.
Miss all the traffic both ways.
(Bristol city , Bridge, tunnels etc)
If you finish at 5, I suggest you stay parked for another hour and have a pint somewhere. Either leave at 3pm or 6pm.

I'm a sensitive soul and wouldn't be able to put up with the abuse

great route that is. bypasses The Coldra and the tunnels. Used it on a Friday a few weeks ago, must have saved an hour. Google maps suggested the route, i'd never been that way before.

get back onto M4 at Tredegar Park,

Most people will have a pint and drive. Nowt wrong with that. More dangerous to have a passenger or a child in your car than having a pint.

I use the bridge a few times a week and at least always at least once get caught in a que that has a vehicle that can be stopped at the booth for up to 10 minutes. Any idea why??

I've guessed that they cant pay and have to fill in forms??
