Cheers mate. I’m not sure congratulations are due. We were very lucky not to go down.

I've said before, the one day mentality has killed the 'proper' game.

I remember Matthew Maynard in his pomp having every shot in the book and he became a better player when he cut out most of them and concentrated on just a handful.
Perhaps he'd do well to pass this experience on to his players.

The four and five day should be about not giving your wicket away.
Pick the bad ball off as the bowler tries something different.
    Simples

Glammy we're in a great position to post a big score and force a win.
Game's not over yet mind though Leics have their tails up.

Utter rubbish. Been out all day and just checked the score. For the second time already this season the team have collapsed after an excellent start. Not good enough. Can’t see them winning now having been in complete control after day one.

    Re: GLAMMY

Despite an incredible innings from De Lange Glammy lose by just three runs. There are some batsmen in this side who need to start performing.

    Re: GLAMMY

Glamorgan beaten by 3 runs after an incredible effort by the tail Enders almost turned the game around - not good enough yet again though by the so called specialist batsmen.

I am a cricket fan (includes Glammy) but I also pay a large chunk of community charge and was very disappointed at the decision to not bid for a test match for 6 years.

The staging of Test matches would have brought in huge revenue for the City and the CCC and I am sure played a big part in the council's decision to bail out GCCC.

Doesn't sit right with me TBH

It depends on the test match. If we had an Ashes test or an India test, then yeah sure it would sell out.

Games against Pakistan, West Indies and Sri Lanka would really struggle and end up with the county losing money in the bid (like we did when we hosted a Sri Lanka test).

I always believe a council should back sport, if you look at Sofia Gardens now, the are around the stadium has fantastic facilities around it where many sports play, the facilities around the cricket are used by many community clubs, and host many training events, and functions. It benefits everyone in the area, and in my opinion well worth the expenditure.

I reckon Glamorgan are right to move away from the test arena where we are fighting against grounds with higher capacities and better facilities, and focusing on matches where we will turn a profit and gain a crowd.

    Re: GLAMMY

Looks like Glamorgan are heading for a trouncing in their first one day game of the season, Gloucs 120-0 off twenty overs, chasing 265 to win after we, criminally, failed to bat the full fifty overs - a typical Glamorgan innings with four scores between 39 and 57, but no kicked on for that truly big score which would have taken us beyond 300.

Another poor effort with Glos winning far too easily.

There is talent there and I think they can have a good season especially in T20 but it’s been a very poor couple of weeks.

Funnily enough I was thinking the same thing. They are to cricket what the Jacks are to football i.e rubbish.

    Poor couple of weeks definitely.

It’s the batsmen that’s letting the team down.

Very much so but they are really inexperienced. They need time. I genuinely think there are the makings of a very good side.

Same as the previous three seasons then - some allowance has to be made for it being such a young batting line up in the four day game especially, but someone like Donald has been playing for a few years now and yet seems to be going backwards (I assume he was dropped for yesterday's match despite Carlson being unavailable because of university exams?).

    Donald is only 21.

Carlson needed to sit out anyway. Neither of them have been good enough this year.

And he was playing for us two or three years ago, he had a poor time of it last season and has barely scored a run this time around. I was hoping the attention being paid towards our batting in terms of new coaching arrivals and an experienced pro who was recruited to help the younger players out would have bore some fruit, but the first innings of the season apart (I'm beginning to think we scored a quarter of our runs for the season in that innings), it's been the same as usual.

I can remember us being beaten by Leicester three or four years as they recorded their first win in three seasons I think it was and now we've given them a victory to end another long winless run for them in yet another match lost by our "specialist" batsmen.

Yes I saw Donald play in one of his earliest games against Kent in the Royal London Cup in 2015. It’s very early in the season. It’s frustrating at the moment but we have to give the young batsmen time.
