Elyounoussi is right, the player in the 70s was eighteen, not seventeen, when he played at Ninian Park - he was seventeen when he made his Southampton debut a few months earlier.

Yeah, I can see what you did there. TOBW says this player was actually 18 when he played in a 1-0 defeat here, he was 17 when he made his debut but that wasn't against us. Went on to become an international.
Steve Williams was also 17 yrs old when he made his debut against Portsmouth
